International Workshop on Immigration and Economic Growth
Does immigration stimulate economic growth?

The international workshop on immigration and economic growth will be held from Thursday, June 23 till Friday, June 24, 2011. The workshop is hosted by the Amsterdam School of Economics at the University of Amsterdam. Organizers are Joop Hartog (UvA) and Jules Theeuwes (SEO Economic Research).
The purpose of the workshop is to bring together scholars working on the dynamic effects of immigration on economic growth and to stimulate others to turn to these long term issues of immigration. The leading question is: what empirical evidence do we have on the effects of immigration on economic growth? Is growth only promoted by high-skilled immigrants or can low-skilled immigrants also make a contribution? If we can identify immigrants who contribute to economic growth, can we then also identify successful policies to stimulate such immigration?
Participation is by invitation only or upon acceptance of presentation (see call for papers).
